Leonardo DiCaprio and Martin Scorsese developing Teddy Roosevelt biopic

Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio have had an incredibly successful partnership over the last 15 years, creating a diverse array of ambitious films that have touched the cultural zeitgeist in one way or another. Scorsese and DiCaprio have made five movies together, and with the exception of the 2010 psychological thriller Shutter Island, all have been nominated for Best Picture at the Oscars. In fact, The Departed was actually the film that got Scorsese his long-awaited Best Director statue, and while the 2006 police procedural may not be considered to be his best film by critics or audiences, it's proof of just how fruitful his partnership with DiCaprio has been. But after the runaway success of The Wolf of Wall Street, Scorsese has turned to more personal projects, such as last year's difficult religious drama Silence, a film that the director fought very hard to make. He's now working on The Irishman with Robert De Niro, reuniting with his former muse to tell another epic gangster tale. Meanwhile, DiCaprio just recently won his first Oscar for The Revenant, and has been seemingly waiting for his next movie to come together. He has plenty of humanitarian work to keep him busy, and has also been rumored for a Leonardo Da Vinci biopic, as well as an adaptation of Stephen Talty's The Black Hand.

But many cinephiles are wondering when Scorsese and DiCaprio will reunite, and over the last few years, several potential collaborations have been reported. First, there was The Devil in the White City, which would see DiCaprio taking on the role of Dr. H.H. Holmes, a notorious serial killer who butchered women at the 1893 World's Fair. Shortly after, it was revealed the Scorsese and DiCaprio hoped to team up for Killers of the Flower Moon, a crime thriller focused on the mysterious murder of members of the Osage Tribe in the 1920s. But seeing that Scorsese is a bit pre-occupied at the moment, neither idea has come to fruition.

Well, after today's news, you can add another film to the growing list of projects that Scorsese and DiCaprio hope to tackle. Deadline exclusively revealed that the two Hollywood legends will be teaming up for Roosevelt, a biopic of President Theodore Roosevelt. Scott Bloom is writing the screenplay, and the film will be released by Paramount. No word on when we can expect this thing to move forward, but at least it's a possibility. As compelling as a Teddy Roosevelt biopic would be, I must say that I'm more interested in seeing this duo take on one of those other two prospective projects. But when it comes to this pairing, I'll more than content with seeing any new project come to the big screen.
