Second 'Doctor Strange' trailer delivers mind-blowing action

As the Warner Bros. panel progressed last week at San Diego Comic-Con, fans everywhere got the chance to take a first look at Wonder Woman, Kong: Skull Island, Justice League, and more. There were no clips or trailers that were exclusive to Hall H only, something that has changed over the years. After last year's leaks of footage from Deadpool and Suicide Squad, debate is still raging over how studios can please both fans at the convention and fans at home. WB and DC took the opportunity to kick off their worldwide marketing campaigns for multiple movies, and it was a move that was well-received by many on the internet. However, later that night, Marvel stuck to their guns and put on a show for the attendees who made the trek to the convention. Comic-Con got the chance to look at footage from Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2 and Spider-Man: Homecoming, and as of today, they are the only ones to see those clips. Only one major trailer hit the internet after the Marvel panel- the second full trailer for Scott Derrickson's Doctor Strange. Check it out below!

Doctor Strange looks about as close to a Christopher Nolan film as we'll ever see in the Marvel universe, and to me, that's a great thing. The visuals in this Doctor Strange trailer are utterly stunning, taking cues from Batman Begins, Inception and Interstellar while crafting a sun-baked look and feel of its own. If I have one complaint for Marvel's recent run, it's that too many of their films look too similar. That doesn't appear to be the case with this one. The action looks mind-blowing, the cast is stellar (Cumberbatch and Ejifor fighting baddies together? Count me in), and most of all, the tone hits the mark. It's a decidedly more epic and grandiose feel than, say, Guardians of the Galaxy, but there's enough of a glimpse of the trademark Marvel humor to keep things from going into grimdark Snyder territory. Overall, Doctor Strange looks like another home run for Marvel and a great debut film for Benedict Cumberbatch in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Doctor Strange is directed by Scott Derrickson, stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Rachel McAdams, Tilda Swinton, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Benjamin Bratt, Scott Adkins, Michael Stuhlbarg, and Mads Mikkelsen, and will hit theaters on November 4.
