While all of the focus in the DC Universe right now is squarely set on Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, fans are starting to look ahead to films like Aquaman and Wonder Woman. Last week, it was reported that James Wan is in contention to direct Aquaman, which was met with a solid response from fans. However, fans expressed extreme disappointment when Michelle MacLaren, the prolific TV director responsible for episodes of Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, dropped out of Wonder Woman over "creative differences" with Warner Bros. It wasn't necessarily surprising, but it was profoundly disappointing for fans who wanted to see a female director take on Wonder Woman. Well, have no fear, because Warner Bros. has found another director to take on one of their most famous superheroes.
Patty Jenkins, who at one point was set to direct Thor: The Dark World, is now set to direct Wonder Woman for the studio, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Not much more is known about the project, but Warner Bros. found a director very quickly for this project after MacLaren left, and there's no doubt in my mind that Wonder Woman will still be in theaters on June 23, 2017 with Gal Gadot and Scott Eastwood starring. I'm excited for the film and I'm glad that Jenkins is getting the chance to direct Wonder Woman after her creative differences with Marvel on Thor 2. Hopefully everything goes much better this time around for Jenkins, and that all of these "creative differences" between the studio and directors can be solved.
