Avengers: Age of Ultron debuts in American theaters this Friday and anticipation is through the roof. Although the reviews suggest that Age of Ultron doesn't quite live up to the hype (72% on Rotten Tomatoes and 69 on Metacritic at the time of this post), fans don't care either way. According to Box Office.com, 95% of Fandango's weekend pre-sales have been for Age of Ultron and it's likely that this film will skyrocket past $200 million and come closer to $250 million. I don't know a single person who doesn't want to see this film and people are making group plans to check out this flick. Marvel has truly taken over the world and I'm guessing that Captain America: Civil War will be just as massive of a juggernaut. The highly anticipated showdown between Captain America and Iron Man with Spider-Man and Black Panther caught in the middle will attract a giant audience when it comes out next year and the final piece of the casting puzzle could be coming into place.
Earlier last week, it was reported that Marvel and Sony had a shortlist of five young actors who they were looking to cast as Spider-Man. According to Latino Review, Asa Butterfield is now the front-runner for the role. The star of Hugo and Ender's Game hasn't officially won the role yet, but according to Kellin Chavez at LR, Marvel really likes him and many executives think it's a done deal. And although I don't think Butterfield is a great fit for the role, he is a good actor and I trust Marvel here. I will say this though- no matter who they cast, I'm all in for Civil War. This looks and sounds like a great film and a return to the grittiness of Captain America: The Winter Soldier. I'm very, very excited. Civil War will hit theaters on May 6, 2016, is directed by Joe and Anthony Russo and stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Scarlett Johannson, Elizabeth Olsen, Jeremy Renner, Anthony Mackie, Chadwick Boseman, Sebastian Stan, Daniel Bruhl, Frank Grillo and Don Cheadle.
