Super 8 review

Super 8 is the latest film from Lost creator JJ Abrams and producer Steven Spielberg. The film stars Riley Griffiths as Charles, an aspiring movie director. His best friend is Joe (Joel Courtney), who is grieving the death of his mother. Charles is making a zombie flick along with Joe, Preston (Zach Mills), Cary (Ryan Lee), and Martin (Gabriel Basso). The group of friends sneak out one night to film a scene at a local train station. The meet Alice (Elle Fanning) at the train station, who both Joe and Charles have crushes on. They begin filming a scene while a train passes by. Then a car goes onto the tracks and blows up the train. That scene was exciting, amazing, and awesome.

They begin to investigate the wreckage. The kids find out that it was a schoolteacher, Dr. Woodward that crashed the train. The the military shows up and the kids rush away. Not only did a train explode, but a monster was let loose onto the town of Lillian, Ohio. Soon enough, dogs, people, and other stuff starts disappearing. Jackson Lamb (Kyle Chandler) is Joe's father who investigates the crash while trying to connect with Joe. Joe and Alice begin to get closer, but their parents don't get along because Jackson blames the death of his wife on Alice's dad. The film is great mixing great story with great action. Super 8 is without a doubt the best film of the year.
