Watch Yourself in First Trailer for Jordan Peele's 'Us'

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays, readers. While everyone's probably spending time with family and enjoying their presents, the film industry hasn't slowed down. Today marked the debut of one of the most eagerly anticipated trailers of the year- our first official look at Jordan Peele's Us. The second social thriller from the creative mind behind Get Out is guaranteed to spark conversations in 2019, yet it's also coming with a serious set of sky high expectations. As I've said before, when there's this level of excitement, it's almost impossible to meet the hype. But if anyone can follow up a game-changing horror flick with another sensation, it might just be Jordan Peele. Meanwhile, check out the first trailer for Us below!

What a Christmas present.

If you weren't already suitably excited for Peele's sophomore outing, this trailer is sure to do the trick. There's certainly a lot we don't know about Us, but the recent speculation on Twitter was confirmed this morning- the film indeed follows doppelgangers of Lupita Nyong'o, Winston Duke, and their on-screen children. Fandango's Erik Davis posted a tweet earlier this morning with new details from a previous interview with Peele, specifying that the film is more a portrait of monstrous versions of our worst instincts than a biting racial satire; or, as Peele says, an exploration of the idea that "we are our own worst enemies."

Of course, much of the online discourse is centered on the questions raised by the trailer. Why are there so many rabbits? Where did these doubles come from? Peele himself has fueled the fire in various interviews over the last week, and we'll likely get more from the filmmaker in the weeks before the film's release. But to pass the time, we might as well watch this a dozen times to try to piece together the puzzle; everything from the music to the twisted imagery looks spot-on and wickedly terrifying. There's a reason this made my Top 10 most anticipated list. Peele is a master of the craft, and this is the first real event movie of 2019.

Us opens on March 15, 2019. In addition, tickets are available now. Get hype.
