Witness the debut of a new monster in bloody full trailer for Shane Black's 'The Predator'

Nobody has really known what to do with The Predator, a reboot of/sequel to the iconic Arnold Schwarzenegger action classic from director Shane Black. Even as someone who never cared about the franchise, the film shot to the top of my most anticipated list for 2018, entirely thanks to the involvement of Black. The filmmaker behind The Nice Guys (one of my favorite films in recent memory) and Kiss Kiss Bang Bang at the helm for a bloody, R-rated monster flick? Yes, please. But it's been a bit of a bumpy road for this film thus far, as mediocre trailers, multiple delays, and rumors of massive re-shoots have plagued Black's latest outing. The internet was thoroughly puzzled by the first teaser, with most coming to the conclusion that 20th Century Fox just hasn't figured out what to make of this film. However, there's still plenty of time for them to put together a marketing campaign that gets people to the theater, and they're wasting no time releasing new content.

Earlier today, the studio released a full trailer for The Predator- watch it below!

This is a wonderfully weird trailer, and I agree with the growing internet consensus that it's much better than the initial teaser. It still feels like Fox is testing out how they should sell this movie, but they've put together a brilliantly gory look at Black's new film. And even with the big action setpieces, the mega-Predator, and the blisteringly intense vibe, this very much feels like a Shane Black movie, bolstered by healthy dose of wise-cracks and irony. The cast has been one of the primary draws since the get-go, and this trailer finally puts this all-star ensemble on full display. Boyd Holbrook is doing his Southern soldier thing, Sterling K. Brown (listed only as "Government Agent" on IMDb) is playing up the enigma factor, and Olivia Munn seems to be taking center stage in a big way. And beyond those three, there's also Moonlight's Trevante Rhodes, Jacob Tremblay, and Keegan Michael-Key, who drops a delightfully crude joke right in the middle of this vicious trailer.

This clip walks a surprisingly fine line between revealing way too much and revealing nothing at all, and while that can be frustrating at times, it actually works pretty well here. I have a fairly good idea of what's happening in this movie, but I also have zero clue how all it all fits together. To me, that's enormously exciting. I'm obviously down for anything Shane Black-related, and it looks like he has crafted a funny, extraordinarily violent, and delightfully strange new take on the Predator. Maybe we'll finally get to see The Nice Guys 2 if this is a hit.

The Predator opens on September 14. Also, check out this epic new poster for the film below!
