Super Bowl teaser for 'Solo: A Star Wars Story' debuts ahead of trailer premiere

This is an incredibly busy evening for the movie world, as the Super Bowl is bringing a ton of trailers, teasers, and maybe even the premiere of a hotly anticipated film (looking at you, Cloverfield). The madness carries into tomorrow morning, as the full trailer for Ron Howard's Solo: A Star Wars Story will debut during Good Morning America. But we got a quick peek at the next chapter in the Star Wars saga tonight, as Lucasfilm decided to run an announcement teaser for tomorrow's trailer drop. It's only 45 seconds in length, but check it out below!

So obviously this isn't a full trailer- I'll have that posted here tomorrow. But this is our very first look at a movie that has been shrouded in secrecy for months now. After the departure of directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller and the hiring of Ron Howard, the Solo standalone flick has been viewed as a troubled production for Lucasfilm. So imagine how surprised I am that the first footage for this controversial and messy film is.......really, really good? It's not much to go on, but I like the look and feel of the whole thing. I didn't expect it to be as grimy and dark as Rogue One, but when you consider that Paul Bettany said it feels like a gangster/caper flick, I suppose that's less surprising. The visuals look astounding, the trailer is structured to perfection, and I love that final shot of Alden Ehrenreich's Han Solo with Chewbacca.

Bring on the full trailer. More as the night continues.
