Spectacular teaser trailer premieres for 'Star Wars: The Last Jedi'

No introduction necessary. Here is the first trailer for Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Watch and enjoy!

"I only know one truth- it's time for the Jedi to end."

I know some have been underwhelmed by this teaser, but quite frankly, I think that's merely a result of having expectations set way too high by those astonishing Force Awakens trailers. Those were nostalgia-driven anomalies, and by all conventional measures, our first look at The Last Jedi is straight-up incredible. It features some truly stunning shots, and that closing line from Mark Hamill's Luke Skywalker? That's one hell of a tease right there. Looper director Rian Johnson's take on the Star Wars franchise has been the most hotly anticipated by movie fans, and this trailer has no shortage of incredible, beautiful images to whet appetites. This is mainly a mood piece that relies on John Williams' classic score to create a sense of intrigue, but what I love about it is that it immediately establishes the tone. This will certainly feel like a Star Wars film, but there's something darker, deeper, more reflective going on here. I love that, and after the delicious nostalgia of J.J. Abrams' The Force Awakens, I'm ready to dig into something deeper.

Oh, and the teaser poster? Look at that. It's simply gorgeous. I can't wait. What else is there to say? This will undoubtedly be the biggest movie of the year, and I have a feeling that The Last Jedi is about to smash It's trailer record.

With a cast led by Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Adam Driver, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Benicio del Toro, Laura Dern, Kelly Marie Tran, Domhnall Gleeson, Andy Serkis, Gwendoline Christie, Lupita Nyong'o, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, and Billie Lourd, Star Wars: The Last Jedi will hit theaters on December 15.
