Final trailer for 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice' debuts- will this film be any good?

We have reached a critical point in the superhero genre. 2016 is the year that changes everything and I'm really not exaggerating. Seven superhero films will debut this and it's a very wide range of material. The Marvel experiment has worked and the X-Men seem to be in a solid position, but how much further can Hollywood push the genre? After the massive, ridiculous success of Deadpool this weekend, I wouldn't rule anything out. But as Doctor Strange, Suicide Squad and the aforementioned Deadpool continue to push superheroes in new, exciting directions, one movie is standing tall above the rest as the most important film of the year- Warner Bros.' Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. This is an incredibly risky gamble and it comes at a hugely intense moment for Warner. If Batman v Superman doesn't work, everything that they've built is in trouble. The marketing has been a mixed bag so far, and the studio has gotta be sweating things at this point. For Justice League to work, Dawn of Justice needs to start things off on the right foot. After the fiasco that was the third trailer, the studio has released another preview for one of the biggest movies of the year. Check it out below:

In terms of the other trailers that have been released, I would say that this is probably the second best that we've seen so far. The Comic-Con trailer is still a brilliant piece of marketing and it was quite exciting to see the gladiator match for the ages being set up on the big screen. But this trailer runs a close second, and I truly love a lot of what it shows us. The opening fight sequence with Batman is astounding, proposing a slightly wilder rendition of the Caped Crusader than what we've seen before. On top of that, Jeremy Irons and Ben Affleck look to be really great in their roles, and it's something that I'm really excited to see in this movie. Overall, the scale of this thing looks enormous and the trailer did a great job of selling an epic vibe.

But it still didn't dispel any of my concerns. I'm still worried that Dawn of Justice will be overly crowded, cluttered to the point of no return. Throw in Hitfix writer Drew McWeeny's comments after the trailer was dropped (more on that in a second), and the question must be asked: will Batman v Superman be any good?

McWeeny's comments can be summed up in a few sentences. Warner Bros. is showing the movie to people now, and they're not digging it. So now, they're scared for the future of the DC film franchise because of these poor reactions. And in McWeeny's opinion, Zack Snyder's job and the entire DC slate could be in jeopardy. These are bold, terrifying claims and it gives even more reason to be concerned with this film. Yes, it's the two biggest heroes of all time in one movie, but if the story and the pacing is unsatisfying, we're in for a rough ride. The reaction to this trailer was very strong, but overall, the marketing hasn't done a great job of selling this concept. The amount of people who have asked me "Why are Batman and Superman fighting?" is staggering. This is a step in the right direction for this campaign, but they need some more firepower fast if they're going to keep this slate alive and create a billion dollar hit. After all, we're just over a month away. This is the final stretch. It's now or never.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice stars Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, Jesse Eisenberg, Amy Adams, Diane Lane, Laurence Fishburne, Jeremy Irons, Holly Hunter, Ray Fisher, Jason Momoa, Ezra Miller, Tao Okamoto and Scoot McNairy and hits theaters on March 25, 2016.
