'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' trailer sparks massive speculation and excitement

It was the trailer that everybody had been waiting for, and it did not disappoint. Star Wars: Episode VII- The Force Awakens is one of the most anticipated films in recent memory and fans across the world were chomping at the bit to get a first look at the new film. Fans had been grabbing every single casting rumor and leaked set photo in the hope of finding some sort of new info about the film, but we knew nothing official. However, that all changed on Friday. The trailer for the latest installment in the Star Wars franchise was released in 30 theaters and online simultaneously, sparking a massive fan frenzy. The trailer racked up hundreds of millions of views online and reaction was overwhelmingly positive. The trailer even made it on NBC Nightly News. Check it out below and after the trailer, be sure to check out my analysis:

Over the last few days, I've probably watched this trailer more times than I can count. It's an extremely terrific teaser trailer that did everything that I wanted it to do. After watching the trailer, here's a breakdown of what we know.

-Tatooine is back.

-John Boyega is playing a stormtrooper, who may or may not be good.

-The war between the rebels and the empire is still raging.

-Daisy Ridley is one of our leads as well. She probably lives on Tatooine.

-Oscar Isaac plays a Rebel pilot.

-There is a new water planet.

-There is a new Sith lord as well, with a pulsing, unstable, tricked out lightsaber.

-The Millenium Falcon is BACK!

-But most importantly, there has been an awakening in the force.

That might not seem like a lot, but for a Star Wars nut, that's incredibly exciting. I liked that we got our first looks at our new leads and a creepy, unnerving glimpse at the main villain. Rumor has it that the villains will be the Sith inquisitors, a group of Sith lords who hunt the Jedi knights. Lupita Nyong'o and Gwendoline Christie are supposedly among the ranks of the Inquisitors, but I'm betting that Domnhall Gleeson or Max von Sydow will be our lead villain. Several fans seem to believe that Adam Driver is our lead villain, yet there was a set picture online of him in a rebel pilot outfit.

Andy Serkis narrates the trailer, and although many people suspected that Benedict Cumberbatch may have provided the voice, it's definitely Serkis. According to sources, Serkis will play a brief but important role in the film. That leads me to believe that he's going to be a Yoda-esque character. All in all, there's still a lot that we don't know, but this trailer got me pumped for this film. The final shot of the Millenium Falcon shot chills up my spine and as the terrific John Williams score blasted through the background, I realized that I was truly excited for this new film for the first time. I'm still skeptical about certain aspect, but I'm a believe in JJ Abrams.

As for when the the next trailer will debut, I think it's an easy bet that we see the first full trailer for The Force Awakens with Avengers: Age of Ultron. However, there was not even a single glimpse of the old characters in the trailer. That leads me to believe that a second teaser will be released soon. And I have a feeling that it will debut with The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies. The first trailer was originally set to debut with the final installment in Peter Jackson's franchise, but it got bumped up. That's why I believe we're getting another very brief teaser with The Battle of the Five Armies. All in all, I'm psyched for this film and I can't wait to return to the Star Wars universe.
