Official title for latest Bond film is 'Spectre'; cast and filming locations revealed

Skyfall is easily one of the best action films of the last few years, and I couldn't be more excited for the latest Bond film. I'm pumped for Avengers: Age of Ultron and I'm psyched for Star Wars: Episode VII- The Force Awakens, but Bond 24 was definitely my most anticipated film of 2015 going into today's press conference. And I'm even more excited now. Today's announcement revealed the new Ashton Martin, the main principal cast member, the filming locations, and most importantly, the title of the film.

Director Sam Mendes kicked off the event by revealing that the title of the 24th installment in the Bond franchise is Spectre. For fans of James Bond, that title is incredibly significant. For those who don't know, Spectre is the terrorist organization that appeared in many of the Bond films in the 1960's. The reintroduction of Spectre to the franchise is a very enticing one and I have a feeling that Mendes will be able to mix the classic Bond elements into this film like he did in Skyfall.

After that, Mendes revealed the slick new Ashton Martin car, before moving on to the cast. He revealed that Rory Kinnear, Ben Whishaw, Naomie Harris and Ralph Fiennes will be returning for Spectre as the so-called "Whitehall Brigade" with Sherlock's Andrew Scott joining the Brigade as Denbigh. Lea Seydoux and Monica Bellucci have also joined the cast as the Bond girls of Spectre, playing Madeleine Swann and Lucia Sciarra, respectively. Rumors for the last few weeks have circled around the villains of the cast, and today, Mendes confirmed that Dave Bautista will be playing Mr. Hinx in the film and Christoph Waltz will be playing Oberhauser (that was later revealed on the 007 Twitter page). Finally, Mendes introduced Daniel Craig himeself, who will be playing Bond for the fourth time.

Mendes then revealed that the film will be shooting in Morocco, Mexico, England, Austria and Italy. Finally, the press conference was concluded. Pretty much all of the rumors from the last few weeks were confirmed, with one noticeable exception. Most entertainment insiders seemed to be certain that Waltz would be playing the iconic villain Blofeld in the film. However, according to the official James Bond twitter source, Waltz will be playing Oberhauser. Mirror UK reports that Oberhauser is the son of Hans Oberhauser, Bond's ski instructor and mentor. But most sources seem certain that Mendes and the producers are pulling a John Harrison/Khan switcheroo. That seems likely to me at this point.

Everything I wanted to hear at the Bond press conference today was reported. I'm so happy that Waltz is the villain and that classic Bond feel that made Skyfall so great sounds like it will be back again. Mendes is a masterful director and Craig is a fantastic Bond. I can't wait to see this movie. Spectre will hit theaters on November 6, 2015. It can't come soon enough.
