Josh Brolin to voice Thanos in 'Guardians of the Galaxy'

While Marvel is currently trying to mop up the mess that Ant-Man has become, some big time casting news was reported. According to Variety, actor Josh Brolin (Labor Day, No Country for Old Men) will be playing the role of Thanos in Guardians of the Galaxy. This might confuse some people. After all, Guardians of the Galaxy will be released on August 1 of this year and it might seem a little late to cast a major actor in a critical role. However, according to Latino Review, this will be a voice role for Brolin for Guardians of the Galaxy. In addition, it has been stated in the past by James Gunn that Guardians is tied more to Avengers 3 and not to Avengers 2 (James Spader's Ultron will likely be the only major villain in that film).

For those who remember, Thanos was the big purple guy at the end of The Avengers. He's also known as "The Mad Titan" and one of his major goals in life is the total destruction of the universe. Odds are that Marvel is going to provide a big spectacle with Avengers 3 and Thanos will be there to provide that. I really like Brolin as a choice for this role. He's a good actor who hasn't played a lot of villains before (I wish he was playing Batman though). However, I'm excited that Thanos is cast and I'm interesting to get a better look at Thanos in Guardians of the Galaxy on August 1.
