Bryan Singer to direct "X-Men: Days of Future Past"

The X-Men franchise has been revived. After two dismal turn-out in 2006's X-Men: The Last Stand and 2009's X-Men Origins: Wolverine that were both hated by fans, Matthew Vaughn (Kick-Ass) revived the franchise in 2011 with X-Men: First Class. With James Mangold's stand alone Wolverine film next year and the 2014 sequel to First Class, it's a good time to be an X-Men fan. But fans were shocked last week when Matthew Vaughn left the sequel, X-Men: Days of Future Past. As soon as Vaughn left, fans immediately latched on to the rumor that X-Men and X2 director Bryan Singer would return. Today, that rumor is confirmed. Singer will direct the film which will see the return of James McAvoy, Michael Fassebender and Jennifer Lawrence. The film will be directed by Singer, produced by Vaughn and Simon Kinberg and Lauren Schuler Donner will write. X-Men: Days of Future Past is set to be released on July 18, 2014 (the same day as The Hobbit: There and Back Again, so expect a delay).
