Thor is the latest superhero action flick from Paramount Pictures and Marvel Entertainment. Thor stars Chris Hemsworth as the title character. One day in the alien world of Asgard, Odin (Anthony Hopkins) is handing over the title of king to his son, Thor. Then a group of Frost Giants, the enemy of the people of Asgard. They attempt to steal an artifact that was stolen in the war between the Frost Giants and Asgard. The Frost Giants are stopped but Thor gets angry and heads to the Frost Giants planet to get his revenge. Thor, his brother Loki (Tom Hiddleston) and a group of about seven soldiers go to the land of the Frost Giants and fight the giants. They almost lose when Odin comes in and saves them. He then banishes Thor to earth.
Thor lands in New Mexico where Jane (Natalie Portman) finds him. He is taken in by Jane, Darcy (Kat Dennings) and Eric (Stellan Skarsgaard). Odin also took away his power, leaving his hammer in a stone near where Thor crashed. Back at Asgard, Loki takes over. In Norse mythology, Loki is the god of mischief. That means Loki is the bad guy.
Now, if you have been following the Marvel universe lately you'll know that every movie that Marvel has made is being connected as a massive prequel to next year's The Avengers. So of course, the agency forming the team, known as SHIELD, gets right in and investigates the site where Thor crashed. The movie would be better if it did not have the stuff with Agent Coulson (Clark Gregg), but I understand the purpose.
Overall, Thor is fun, action-packed and a really good superhero movie. Kat Dennings is hilarious as Darcy. Thor is a much better movie than Green Lantern overall.
